2002-03-06 - 12:53 p.m. I hate sleeping under a mosquito net. I'm always fretting over whether or not my toenails are going to snag on it. - Um, do I have anything edifying to say today? Not really. My supervisor called me yesterday and said it was probably time for me to make a formal statement of some kind about what the theme of my thesis is, what it's about, why it interests me... for some reason I panicked and tried to write something last night, but it was only about 200 words long and then I froze... I've been writing at the rate of about 700 words a day for the last week or so, which probably doesn't seem like much, but considering that I've got 3 years to write this thing and at 700 words a day you get to 100,000 in about a tenth of that, I thought I was going pretty good. Now I feel frozen. Obstacles. Obstacles are messengers, he says. We find out where we're going through discovering the obstacles on the way. We're not always going where we think we are. That's a hard one to keep in mind, but I think it's probably one of the most important things to try to remember; you're not necessarily going where you think you are. - "I ain't got no home in this world anymore" - Woody Guthrie
