Is it just my imagination, or am I always going deaf? I never seem to get a decent run of being able to hear properly. It's really bothering me a lot. Saw my supervisor today, it went well I think, although I suspect he's ready for me to start working a bit more seriously. I am also sweating like a pig, on account of the fact that I rode over to his place at 11.30 and back at 12.45, thus I was out in the sun during the hottest part of the day, and today is a particularly hot day.

Sometimes I feel like my diary entries are really boring, and I want to try and think of something interesting to add so that the people who read it won't feel ripped off by having gone to the trouble of reading it only to find that it's just some boring crap about my day, about the fact that I'm sweating or that I'm deaf in one ear or something else that's really only of interest to me. But, then I think, if I try and force it, it won't really be my diary anymore, it'll be just some thing I do to try and impress people. Part of the problem of honesty I was talking about yesterday is, I think, a willingness to admit that most of the time you are a pretty ordinary person, that you are boring just as much as anyone else is. And if you spend all your time trying to prove to other people how interesting you are, that's only going to make you more boring.

Are the times when you don't try

When you don't even try" - Joni Mitchell
