2002-01-19 - 10:39 p.m. Visit to Katoomba was pretty much as I predicted yesterday, with some slight variations. Particularly, we went for a walk down to Lady Darley's Point and I saw a spot where I had been sitting while drunk in the middle of the night on a previous visit, and went, "Oh my fucking god, that is at the top of a very, very sheer fucking cliff". Yes, there is a big difference between brave and stupid, but it seems what I lack in the former quality I can make up for with my abundant supply of the latter. - And now, a totally unrelated rant: - I don't like the word "hubris". It's basically the same as the word "arrogance", although possibly with a slightly stronger pejorative connotation, but the thing is, the only reason you'd use "hubris" instead of the perfectly serviceable "arrogance" is because you want to announce to the fucking world that you are a member of that select cognoscenti that knows the word "hubris", which in my humble opinion, is indicative of a fair bit of, ahem, "hubris" on the part of the user of the word "hubris". If that didn't make any sense, uh, I'm not surprised. - "99 red balloons go by" - Nena
